COSA Magazine
We have found over many years that the one item that keeps on going is the Magazine.
Produced annually and appearing usually in late Spring, it contains a collection of anecdote, memories, the odd poem and lots of ‘gossip’.

Our Patron - Stuart Brookfield
COSA President Ivor Crane
Caroline Woolley and Nan Eaves
Our Patron – Stuart Brookfield – collected an enormous quantity of friends during his many years as Head of Horticulture and these people continue to keep him busy now that he lives in Minehead in Retirement.
Stuart keeps in regular correspondence with many overseas folk and sends copies to us for inclusion in the current Mag.
Now that we have a website that can be updated we intend to keep him even busier!
Nan Eaves is the guiding light behind the Magazine. She has been the Editor for many years and annually resigns as she reckons ‘younger minds than mine, my dear …’ should be holding the fort. However younger minds than hers would not have the wealth and depth of knowledge of all the farming families in Somerset and beyond. Nan knows everybody!
Our ‘quiet man’, President Ivor Crane, was a student at Somerset Farm Institute in 1944 when he studied Agriculture.
Since then Ivor has farmed, until his retirement, in the Lyng area, north east of Taunton and on the edge of the Somerset Levels. At the same time he's given a lifetime service to the Old Students Association and was voted unanimously into the role of President in 1990 upon the demise of Miss KD Maddever. Ivor continues to lend a hand whenever called upon and always lends support in his inimitable way.
Nan’s ‘side kick’, Caroline Woolley reckons that she herself might have a few computer skills but nowhere near the networking experience that Nan enjoys within her role as ‘hub’ of the COSA organisation.
Stuart Brookfield and Nan Eaves encircle the entire spectrum of ‘days of yore’ in Somerset and beyond.
